Beautiful one-of-a-kind crystalline stoneware vases from Sifnos, Greece

Hand-crafted vases using a glazing technique with crystals in the glaze that burst when cooling from the kiln.   From Sifnos Stoneware in Sifnos, Greece, "crystalline glazes are speciality glazes in which crystals form and grow inside the glaze during cooling.  These types of glazes are very difficult to master as they are highly unpredictable.  This process requires special glaze formulas and an intricate and lengthy firing cycle that can last over 20 hours.  The result, when successful, is an extraordinary and unique items."
